Color Me Inspired

So good, so good, so good, so good!!!!!!! LOVE!
Friday I had two auditions. One in the morning for Oklahoma (no callback...), and one at noon for the music video I landed that films Monday. It's a video for a hip-hop group and the song is called "Long Limousines". Don't worry. As soon as I get the link for it, I'll post it here for you all to enjoy...

And then after all of that, I got to hangout with Dani! We met up at my place, so I could give her the grand tour and then headed to the LES for food and drinks before meeting up with the Lizards to see The Color Purple.

You guys, YOU GUYS! IT'S SOOOOO GOOD! Like, so good that I will be SHOCKED if it doesn't win the Best Musical Revival Tony in June. There was so much crying and "YAAAAS"-ing and standing o's in the middle of songs (all from me, although the rest of the audience also joined in). Jesus. They could SAAAAAAANG. Cynthia Erivo plays the lead, Celie, and she is just. HO. LY. CRAP. SO GOOD. This is her Broadway debut and you will definitely know her name. Her voice is incredible! She played the part in the workshop and her slow burn, the way she finds herself and her character, her arc is so clear. SO CLEAR. Jesus. The girl is incredible. Really the whole cast is. It's such a clean and crisp show. Nothing extraneous. And every aspect gets its chance to shine. There is a moment for every single cast member, one for the lights, the set, the costumes. Everything. Gah! So good! What all Broadway should be!

Sorry about my word vomit. It's just so inspiring to see such good theatre on a vaunted stage. Hopefully a show like this informs future Broadway shows and directors: theater does not have to be an all out spectacle (*cough* Wicked *cough*) to be amazing and blow an audience away.
