Wall Art

Just bought these. My LOB and my QB.
Cannot wait for these to come in the mail! I'm gonna frame them and put them up on my wall. Cannot wait! Seriously! SERIOUSLY! Thank you, Etsy!

For the rest of my room art I think I'll explore local thrift and pawn shops to see what I can find. I want something funky and weird. But these Hawks posters should arrive sometime in the next week! YAY! I'm a nerd. And I love it.

The Last Piece of the Puzzle

Just purchased from Target!
I went to Target after yoga today just to take a look at the floor lamps they had available since I've had no luck finding anything on craigslist or gypsy housing cheaper than $40 or so. And lo-and-behold, a totally crappy two-tiered lamp for $13! Purchased. And done.

Now I have everything I need in my room to make it comfortable! And now... to decorate... These walls are rather bare... Might have to hit up a vintage shop and see if I can find something interesting to put up.

It's also been so cold here for so long that I actually had a dream last night where it was still only in the 50's after the 4th of July. I think it's going to be cold like this forever. And it might snow again tonight. I hate this.

First Time in Full Wheel

I can do this! BUT not in the best form.
Today I did full wheel pose with my head off the mat for the first time! I was so proud! Until my instructor came over and had me go back down to the mat and set up again in more correct posture. And that time I couldn't get my head off the mat or straighten my arms all the way... BUT STILL! Proud of myself!

I'm gonna keep trying and hopefully build up the strength to do it correctly eventually! Yay!

Sore Arms

I was doing this pose a ton yesterday.
So, yesterday we spent a good amount of time doing supported crow. Imagine a block for the forehead and a block to perch my feet on before launching into this pose. I can do it (and have been for a while), but never with my arms at a 90 degree angle (like she has them. The correct posture), and in the supported pose it's easier to achieve this. And easier to balance. It definitely is. BUT, my triceps are CRAZY bruised now because of perching my knees on them. Big bruises.

But a fun reason why!

Yoga Every Day

Today was day 4 in a row. I plan on going tomorrow.
I've been consistently yoga-ing. And I love it. Today was the fourth day in a row. I am still crazy sore (as expected), but feeling stronger and definitely more limber. I know that the yoga is helping strengthen my gluteus minimus and gluteus medius on both sides, but especially on my weaker left side as I can really feel those muscles, almost more than any others.

Yay yoga! Yay working out!

I really can't wait until the weather warms up and I can start running again, too. Mostly because I wanna start exploring my new(-ish) neighborhood. I have to take Thursday and Friday off from yoga, but I plan to go back again on Saturday and Sunday. This is the fourth week that I've been doing yoga. And I think that's what they say, that it takes four weeks to develop a habit. So yay to developing healthy habits!

Elite Eight

Watched a bit of this this weekend.
So... yoga yesterday before work (YAY! I did it!) and again today after laundry and before joining a friend in Williamsburg for the second half of the Zag/Duke game. Boo Duke. It was the worst. But hey, discovered Williamsburg! And went "rolling" at a skeeball bar (yeah, those exist. Only in NY. And Austin. And San Fran. And Portland. All the super-hipster cities...), before heading back home to revel in the glory of being alone in my apartment (AKA making more nachos. And drinking a beer).

I open tomorrow and am second cut. And have Tuesday off again. YAY! Another day off! And I got all my errands done so I have nothing I have to do that day. Might just watch X-Files and sleep all day. Done and done.

Checking Off

My To-Do list is getting lots of these today.
Well, I had all these plans for waking up early and going to yoga and then laundry and then basketball in the glorious apartment on my own! But, I slept in. I worked 13 hours yesterday (thanks scheduling...), but was really only busy for about 8 of them... Awesome. At least I made some monies last night (since I definitely did NOT yesterday afternoon...)

But, I finished the laundry! Yay! And am about to head to yoga! Yay! Probs missing most of the Louisville/Michigan St game, but back before the Zags play.

Days off are amazing. All I wanna do is hangout and sleep, but I enjoy getting a few things done. I also swept the whole apartment and ate some leftover thai food (from Wednesday's sick day).

I did try to get my taxes started, but I'm still missing a number of W-2's, so... can't exactly start that quite yet.

What I WANT to Be Doing...

Bought before leaving FiDi. Want to drink it now.
Well, I'm sitting at my brand new kitchen/living room nook table, just having finished my nachos. With one March Madness game on the iPad and one on my laptop (BOO DUKE). I drank one, but am refraining from opening another (but I wanna) because of the sickness. All I wanna do is drink beer and watch basketball, but I will take just basketball and a single beer.

Reached a point today at work where I was completely foggy and super concerned I was gonna pass out. So, sleep early tonight and possibly yoga tomorrow (but no pressure) before a LONG day at work tomorrow... We'll see how long they keep me...

Harry Otter

At the Monterey Aquarium. This is the best!
Jacki sent this to me. She obi thought of me when she saw this at the Monterey Aquarium. I died laughing at work. I also really want this shirt...

Nacho Cheese!

I just made nachos. It's OK to be jelly.
Yum. Just ate all of these. Nom nom nom. Now to sleeeeeeep.

Out Sick

Me. All day Wednesday.
Whelp. Did NOT end up going to yoga on Tuesday night. OR Wednesday. Because I was ill. SUPER ill. Like, slept maybe a half hour before I woke up with a sinus-pressure induced migraine. And spent the night tossing. And turning. And trying not to move. And trying not to vomit. Or hear any noise. Or see any light. Yeah.

Needless to say that I did NOT go into work to close on Wednesday. Actually, I'm pretty sure that I spent 90% of Wednesday sleeping. I had X-Files on in the background and even though I watched something like a season and a half, I'm pretty sure I never saw an entire episode all the way through.

Exhausted.

Ten-hour days both yesterday and today haven't helped either.

Other Potential Organizers

It's like they created organizers for my obsessions...
I'm glad to see that other people suffer from the same obsessions as me: hats and purses (we already have shoes covered. Obvi). I am now debating buying one or both of them to help me organize my doors... right now they are a pretty big mess.

Of course, I saw them at the container store, and didn't grab them because I thought I'd have too much to carry. But now that I'm here and looking at the behind the door mess, I probably should have. We will see... But I might go back. And hopefully, sometime soon.

Glorious Days Off

March Madness done right. All the devices! iPad on the left, laptop right.
Saturday was loverly. I spent the day in a (not my) sports bar watching March Madness! And enjoying every minute of it! It was great.

And Sunday, because I got off early, I was able to put games on every device and follow the final few games of last weekend.

I am still debating heading to yoga tonight. That was, ultimately, the plan for the day, but since I woke up early and got so much done I am now sorta exhausted and not really in the mood for another subway ride... But we'll see. I don't have to decide for another two hours, so we'll see... Still kinda hungry too and not much in the way of food in the house right now.

On Sunday, my next day off, I cannot wait to just sleep in. It was the plan for today, but I woke up crazy early all enthused and am now really feeling it...

I close tomorrow, though, so hopefully sleeping in is on the docket for tomorrow morning. But boo on a late night tomorrow night... Those 2am closes are the worst.

Full of Inspiration

New under-the-bed storage and a new bedside table!
Well, since the girls got so much done over the weekend, they inspired me to actually finish the few parts of my room that still needed a little luvin' on my day off today, so I did! I woke up relatively early and looked online to see what was available on craigslist and gypsy furniture, then feeling like I was giving up on the under-the-bed option, so I figured I better first head to the container store to see if I could find storage options that used up less precious floor space in my room.

My trip to the container store was very fruitful! I found two under-the-bed containers that fit on top of each other with wheels! It's still less than ideal, but I'm sure I'll figure out a little bit better way to organize my clothes and keep as much floor space as possible. Also! They were onside! And I bought a jewelry organizer!

Then, once I was home I started emailing people on craigslist about side tables and I found one, less than a half-hour from me for $3. SOLD!

Now, all I need is a lamp and I think my room will actually (FINALLY) be complete!

A Reading Nook and Kitchen Table

Bookshelves for our reading nook in top pic, a new green bookshelf bottom left and our red antique kitchen table and chairs bottom right.
We got new furniture! The roomies organized our reading nook (soon to be completed with a Love Sak or beanbag chair or comfy pillows for spring/summer sunshine reading) and yesterday Maridee picked up that antique red formica table with matching chairs!

I cannot wait to clean it up a bit more and spend some time in our new rooms! Plus, we all ate dinner and played on our computers and hungout at our new table last night! It was glorious!

And inspirational...

The Madness of March

Bracket-ology
Oh, March Madness, how I love/loathe you. Yesterday was insane. Today as well. Yesterday our lunch point was $45/hr!!!!!! And Dinner was $28/hr! I'll take it! Today, I'm sure was better! We'll see how that ends up...

Tomorrow is yoga and a (MUCH NEEDED) day off and life. Life not fettered by work. Then back to work Sunday. Le boo.

The worst. Six days working, one day off, fucks me ROYALLY. But, at least, I make the monies.

Whoever coincided St Paddy's Day with March Madness needs to die a slow, painful death. Le boo. The worst.

St Paddy's Day Insanity

Yesterday. And Tuesdays are supposed to be my day off...
Well, it was pretty crazy at work yesterday, so hopefully I made monies in my 10.5 hour day. It didn't really get busy until after work (5-ish) and slowed down around 11:30 (right after I finally got to eat. 9 hours into my shift)... I was home and in bed by 1:40, but at least I didn't have to stay at work until 2am or after like I have to tonight in my closing shift...

We'll see how yesterday being St Paddy's will affect how busy we are tonight. I would thoroughly enjoy making money two days in a row, but I am also so tired that I'd be OK with it slowing down around midnight. I do, of course, only have one day off this week, so... that sucks. I will be looking forward to Saturday all week.

Super Supportive

Maridee's show! I saw it!
Whelp! Life's been pretty damn busy (hello St Paddy's Day and March Madness), so I haven't been able to update for a bit. But I saw Maridee's show on Friday and then since her mom was there, she took us out to El Camino for margaritas and tacos. Nummers.

Glad I got to see Maridee's show too. Nice to be able to see shows in New York and be there for my roomie. Plus, the show was good. Crazy, but really good.

Midnight Express

Ah, the 6 train. A train I never take.
So, I've had one of the more New York-y commutes in the last few days. Not only was my Wednesday commute to work completely effed, like I already talked about, but my Thursday commute was equally jacked. Granted, it didn't take me 4 trains to get to FiDi, but my train did arbitrarily decide to make Wall St it's last stop and not continue on from there... No biggie, as Fulton is the next stop, about a minute or two away on the train, making my walk from the train station to work 10 minutes instead of five. BUT on the way home that night, around midnight or so, some lady and the guy sitting across from her started getting INTO it. Yelling and standing up and honestly, I thought things might come to blows, so at the next stop (Franklin, for those wondering. Two away from my stop), I got off and got onto the next train car. Then, in THAT car there were a couple guys yelling at each other too! Are you kidding me? Ridic. Luckily, I got off on the next stop.

Anyways, here's hoping for no more train drama! (I just jinxed myself, didn't I?) Yay New York!

Train Trouble

My commute to work looked a bit like this yesterday... Le boo...
So, it takes me 35 minutes to get from my place to work (assuming the train is right there when I walk into the subway station), and yesterday's commute took 75 minutes. Yeah. There was a power outage, so the 4/5 trains weren't running, so we had to take a 2/3 instead. And they were all running super slowly and local and it sucked. Plus, anytime I'm late to work (first time in MONTHS!!!!), I feel crazy stressed.

But, all was well afterwards. Except that we just weren't that busy. At all. Today, though, we have a SHIT TON of parties! So, not only do I think that I will be busy, but I think I'll be there until... forever. And I open tomorrow. Yikes. Sucks. But, I'm just gonna cross my fingers that I make some monies.

No yoga this morning because when my alarm went off, the sleep before a long-ass day was more tempting. Sleep won.

Back to the Grind

First of 4 days back to work.
Heading back to work today after a loverly day off full of laundry, yoga and HoC. Now I have a lot to get through without many opportunities to hit up yoga (maybe tomorrow at 8:30? Maybe Sat at 9?)... Le booooooooooo...

But then I get a glorious day off! Without having to close the night before! But it's a UFC fight night on Saturday, so I might be there late... But still! Possibly early night on Saturday! And I'm cut 1 on Friday, so I might get out around 7 or so again (and head to see Maridee's show)! Getting things done. w00t!

Rainy Days are Here Again

Went to yoga after finishing my laundry today and I was gonna try to hit up Maridee's dress rehearsal for her thesis afterwards, but I got stuck in commuter traffic and two full trains went by before I could squeeze onto one, so there wasn't enough time for me to shower and get to the LES before 8... As a result, I just came home and cooked for myself instead (haven't really eaten anything today).

Yum. GF pasta with putanesca sauce and chicken sausage, grilled cheese (on gf bread) and wine. Nummers.

Also, found this awesome tumblr artist! Love her! And love what she does.

Beer Before Shopping

Beer meeting at work yesterday.
We had a beer meeting yesterday at work and since I had to be there at 230 for the meeting and then back to close at 6, I couldn't go to yoga... le boo. BUT after the beer meeting (tasting all the seasonals we're getting for spring), I still had two hours to kill. What should I do? Well, the weather has finally started to warm up the last few days, so I decided to go spring clothes shopping. I am not sure when I'll next be in Seattle, and I left a fair amount of my warm weather clothes in my Dad's closet... so I guess I'll either have someone ship it all to me, or just buy new clothes (darn...)

I found a couple of cute tops and a nice royal blue cardigan that I'm excited about. Plus, new work shoes (hello, leather converse high tops!) so I can wear my Sperrys in real life once again. Liberating them for my sad work locker.

Todays plans include laundry (already done!), yoga (I'm aiming for the 430 class) and cooking for the week. I enjoy a day off where I have some plans, but not too many. Back to closing tomorrow night and then I work a double on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Dresser-ed for Failure

It was a cool two-tiered red dresser in the West Village. It's gone now.
That stupid hour we lost last night was horrible. Of course it happened after I close, so when I got off at 2am, it was really 3am, so the stupid slow train made me get home at 430am. Le. Boo.

Then, when I woke up this morning (well, it was really more like afternoon, since I'm pretty sure I didn't get up until 130 or so), I decided to go see if the red dresser and end table were still sitting in the snow in the West Village. They weren't. But I tried! And I would have hated myself if I hadn't gone and at least tried.

Then I went to yoga tonight. It was tough. Like, crazy tough. He was one of those teachers who has us sit in our poses for a minute or more and boy howdy, I am SORE. Already. Tomorrow I'll be even more sore. But it's my 5th class in a week and I love it. So yay!

Things and Stuff

Japanese toilet! Because, why not?
Got outta work at a totally decent hour last night, so I met up with Jess for drinks. It was so nice! I haven't seen her for a bit, so catching up was fun. I also had my first Shake Shack last night! It was yummy. And might have found some furniture in the West Village that I might go back for today or tomorrow if they're still there...

One of the bars we hit had a crazy Japanese toilet. It was hilarious. Jess told me about it and then I had to take a pic of the controls. Yup. Insane.

Snowtime Fun

Why not write in the snow on national monuments?
Seriously though. There was so much snow. It got rather ridiculous. But I enjoyed this, so I took a pic.

Snowmaggeden

My street 11am on Thursday.
I refused to let the weather keep me from yoga on Thursday after I skipped on Wednesday to watch HoC all day... Yesh.

But seriously, it snowed so much for about 12 hours that my Thursday swing shift was actually pretty low key. Still a shit ton of people, but it emptied out around 9:30 or 10, so I actually got home at a decent, albeit very snowy, hour. Brooklyn had about 6-8" of snow by the time I was walking home. And there was still a lot of leftover snow yesterday...

Done. So done with winter.

Just a House of Cards

Addicted. Seriously addicted.
So, I never made it to yoga today because after yoga yesterday I started watching House of Cards and... well, now I'm almost finished with season 1. So, I've been watching lots of the Underwoods and their political intrigue.

So. Good.

Tonight I close, I work the swing shift tomorrow night, open/first cut on Friday and close on Sat (no one could cover because a girl unexpectedly left us...). Boo. Pretty much the same shift as last week, and they're good shifts, but I hate closing so much and I REALLY hate closing before both my days off.

Plan to go back to yoga tomorrow. I'm OK with taking today off since it's going to be such a late night and I woke up early to get my Fresh Direct order. But I'll go back to it tomorrow and I'll try to hit classes Saturday and Sunday, too.

My Slippery Slope

Pretty much how I looked crossing the street today.
Well, it snowed again here. Started around 3pm and continued all the way through when I got outta yoga and was heading home. Well, not just snow. It snowed, but it also rained, sleeted, hailed... Gross. There were puddles. LOTS of puddles. And I stepped in more than my fair share of them today in my three block walk to and from the subway station on my way to yoga. And one of them was especially deep and wet. So yes, I went to yoga. No, the nasty weather did not defeat me this time. And, boy howdy, am I sore.

Planning on hitting up the noon class tomorrow before my closing shift. So far I'm 2/2 in yoga days. Getting it done.

Plus, yoga at 830pm is surprisingly refreshing. Who knew?

UFC Disappointment

The fight lasted 14 seconds...
So... I realized I never talked about the disappointment of the UFC night. There were a bunch of us working and not that many people in the restaurant. Plus, UFC watchers tend to sit and watch instead of consistently drink, so their checks are lower... So, we really didn't make much on Saturday. But the fight was amazing! It only lasted 14 seconds and Rousey absolutely destroyed Zingano. Ridic.

Luckily, last night sorta made up for it. And I'm trying to get next Saturday's closing shift covered, too. I hate closing before a day off. It just makes the entire next day seem like a loss. Blearg. Hopefully, though, I can get this all worked out. And work a 1pm/D2 instead, getting outta there at a decent hour instead.

All By Myself

Closed by myself last night. All alone...
So, I'm CRAZY sore today after my first yoga class yesterday... BUT I still have plans to go again today. I was gonna go to the 430pm class, but it was cancelled, so I think I'm gonna try to head over to the 8pm class. But we shall see...

Yesterday, since one of the girls was stuck in Ohio with her plane delayed, I ended up closing all by myself. But all was well because we were actually kinda busy yesterday! So, I actually made some monies on a Monday! More than I made for UFC on Sat! Sometimes a surprise busy day is the best!

Today my Super came by and finally fixed our oven! w00t! So happy to be able to cook again! Maridee wants to make her pies and I wanna make nachos (with real cheese instead of the crappy "cheese sauce" that people in this stupid city think you put on nachos. It's the worst. Not real nachos, people. It makes me angry)! Plus, I have a new lightbulb in my bedroom light! So I can see again in my room!

Yoga's Back Again!

I didn't even look this good.
Well, I woke up yesterday and after not having any luck finding a gym close to me with a pool, I decided to find another form of working out. I want a gym, but I really don't like treadmills and without a pool, the only reason for me to find a gym would be to take classes. And since my favorite class is yoga, I figured I might as well find a yoga studio near me. And I did!

I woke up yesterday and googled yoga studios, trying to find one near me that wasn't too expensive and after looking at a bunch of studios that were all pretty expensive, I found one that has drop-in classes on a sliding scale that is only 15-20 minutes from me (via subway) and totally walkable (or runnable) come spring/summer. They also have free mats and are generally just really chill.

I was all hyped to go try it out on my day off yesterday! Until, I looked outside and saw that it was all kinds of snowing, so I decided to not go outside at all yesterday.

But today! Today! I decided to try it out. And I went! And it was awesome. A great hour-and-a-half long class that was exactly what I needed to jumpstart my workout routine again. And since I'm closing a bunch this week I think I'm gonna go back a bunch. And soon.
