Post-Yoga Glow

Yuuuuuup. Even though now I look tired, I always feel energized after practicing!
Since I'm back at BBBS again today, but luckily only working 8 hours instead of the full 12 (the morning chick was better. She said I pulled what they call an "iron man" by working the whole day yesterday), I was able to hit up a 10am yoga class with one of my fav teachers at my current studio. And it was awesome. Totally kicked my ass, but in the best possible way.

I have until the 20th to use the three classes I have left on this 20 for $20 deal, and you KNOW I am gonna use all of them! I mean, $1 a class? Best deal ever! I am looking into other studios that have new member/first month deals, but nothing is gonna beat that pulsd coupon. I'm gonna have to thank Diana for hooking me up with it! The unlimited monthly deals aren't the steals they used to be with my current schedule. I have only been able to take one class a week for the last month or so. Not that I'm complaining. I am definitely glad I am temping more and making more monies, but it means I'm practicing at home early in the morning instead of lazing around, hitting up a class in the middle of the day.

After yoga this morning, I cleaned myself up, changed, put on makeup, grabbed a coffee and was still about 20 minutes early getting downtown for my 1230 close. I don't love getting home at 9, but I do love that I got to sleep in a bit after getting home the same time yesterday. Unfortunately, I have an early wake-up for tomorrow's temp job (receptionist at a law firm), so tonight might be an earlier night.

I like this working three days a week thing, even if yesterday was essentially 1.5. It gets me enough to pay the rent and still have some disposable income left over (yay money for theatre tickets)! Since I spent an obscene amount of money on the 5(!!!) big production show tickets I bought this month (I'm not including Gabi's Beasts. I can easily afford a $14 ticket), I am not gonna make this month the first that I come out spending less than I made (so still "no drinking" in April, I guess, 'cause we know how strictly I've been sticking to that declaration), but at least I know that it went towards things I'm PROUD to have seen. #worthit

If I hadn't made those purchases, I would have been much closer to being in the black, but I wouldn't have been happy about it. I will not cut my theatre budget just so I can "drink" next month! But I will try to spend less money on tickets in such a short period of time... I am also receiving two paychecks tomorrow (no joke! Get it? Cause tomorrow's 4/1? Yeah, nerd), so that's just bad timing!

And For My Next Trick...

The ladies during the line through and the Queen hiding in her box.
Yesterday I hosted the ladies of Martyr'd Signs at my apartment for a line through of the whole show, costume parade, brief walk through of the fights, and brunch. It was really fun! The 13 of us fit quite nicely in my living rooms, and you know how much I love hosting (any excuse to show off my awesome apt, right?)! I woke up early yesterday to clean and organize and make coffee cake, and once the ladies left, I swept the entire apartment, put everything away, and crashed. It always amazes me how long it takes to clean up after having people over. Especially if there has been food involved.

At least I have lots of left over breakfast items AND, because I completely rearranged the furniture, I was able to sweep under and around parts of the apartment that hadn't seen a broom in a while. Now, the apartment is nice and clean which made yoga-ing this morning an absolute dream. Nothing gross anywhere on the floor around me. Ahhhhhh! So zen.
Why, yes, this IS a bag full of Starbucks coffee. We are now stocked for LIFE.
Today I am working at Big Brothers Big Sisters downtown again, filling in for an ill receptionist, and I have absolutely no idea how long I will be here. The office is open from 830am to 830pm, so I could, conceivably, be here the whole day. I have an email out to my temp contact asking if she has any further details, but since this is the only job I have lined up so far this week, I really wouldn't mind working a 12-hour day (really 11, since I'd definitely take two half-hour breaks).

I did get a call Monday morning about filling in somewhere last minute, but I needed to get my computer thing sorted, so I ended up bailing on that one. And then, yesterday, I was called about filling in here at Bigs, but because of rehearsal, I wasn't able to take that one either. I'd love to get a job for the rest of the week, though, so hopefully something pops for me tomorrow or Friday (or both!).

Although there are a couple EPA auditions that I might attend this week (one Friday morning and one Saturday afternoon), I'm pretty sure that this is the first week in over a month that I haven't had at least one audition scheduled! Looks like we're nearing the end of EPA season... I guess that's a good thing, but it seems more than likely that I won't be working on a show this summer. Bummer!

Speaking of shows, I have been offered, and accepted the role of Prospero in The Tempest! I am both nervous and enthusiastic about tackling this HUGE part AND they are PAYING ME! YEEEEEEES! First professional gig in this city! Not gonna lie, I'm crazy excited! We are probably gonna start rehearsals either end of next week or the beginning of the following, so I will be in rehearsals for both Martyr'd Signs AND Tempest at the same time. BUT since I'm mostly off-book for Martyr'd Signs already, it shouldn't be too insane working both shows.

The Tempest has two performances at the end of May, and then I'm free again, so I'll keep auditioning and keep trying to land something for the summer. Here comes the insanity!

Positive Feedback

Wore this to my corporate job on Thursday. When the pants have a high enough waits, you can get away with a crop-top!
On Thursday afternoon, as I was getting my timecard signed, the big boss at my temp job offered me a full-time position there if I was ever interested. Yup. I mean, right now the whole temp thing is really working for me with my auditions, rehearsals, and classes, but it's good to know that people like working with me and that I have the option to potentially work a more "regular" job should I ever want to.

Yup, Godiva chocolates just for showing up to work! I'll take it!
And he brought me chocolate-covered strawberries to thank me for coming in for the week and to say Happy Easter! How thoughtful!

Sheer Terror

Yeah, this is never gonna stop. MORE MAGNOLIAS!
Halfway through my lazy day on Sunday, my computer started to actually freak-out. Like, to the point where I couldn't get the internet to open. And then, it wouldn't let me shut it off. Yeah, then I freaked out because computer! Expensive! Only 3 years old! I needs it!

So, I pretty immediately made a genius bar appointment at Apple for the next available time slot (Monday afternoon) and tried to think good thoughts. I have the external hard drive that I bought at the end of February with everything on there, so I knew, worst case scenario, if I need to buy a new computer, I can drag and drop all the pertinent info into the new operating system. But I don't really have the emergency funds to afford a new computer right now, so...

Monday afternoon I wander into the Apple store, and because I am a bit early, I take a look at the new laptops just in case. Very quickly I notice that none of them have cd or dvd drives, so I ask an employee and sure enough, they no longer make laptops with built in cd or dvd drives... Suddenly I became even more nervous. I NEED to be able to upload music via cds onto my computer, make my xmas cds, and have some way to watch the ridic amount of dvds I own. So, yeah. EXTRA crossing my fingers that this is just a quick fix.

Luckily, it was. I told the genius bar employee that everything was backed up and I was a big fan of whatever she could do to make my computer work again, including a factory reset, wiping everything. So, that is exactly what she did. And it worked! My computer is now back to it's former self, running like new with only the barest of bones brought over from my backup! I would have been devastated to lose all that info, music, documents, headshots, so I feel incredibly grateful that I had the foresight to buy an external and back everything up.

Also, yeah, super glad I now know that I am probably going to have to transition to a PC for my next computer. I get it, Apple, cd/dvd drives take up a lot of space and make a laptop heavier, but if I wanted a tablet or a macbook air, I'd buy one of those. I would like an all-in-one computer please, is that too much to ask? (apparently, now it is...Yikes.)

Breathing a sigh of relief that my computer works again, Plus, she gave me an estimate on the cost of fixing the screen (there's a big thumb-shaped crack in it from when my computer started to fall off my counter and I grabbed it by the screen, saving it from further damage, but making the screen a little uglier. Which sucks), and although it is a chunk of change, it's better than the cost it would be to buy a whole new computer or fix more extensive internal damage. Once I have a little more money in my bank account (and am not spending all my disposable income on theater tickets), I'll have to consider springing for that fix.

Truly Inspiring

Guys! Henry IV pt 1! I'm seeing it! And it's only 10 minutes away from my apartment!
After my drag-tastic afternoon, I peaced out back to Brooklyn, slightly tipsier than intended, to get to BAM for Henry IV, pt 1! I was totally good on time, and actually got there early enough to check out the lobby displays (original folio! Pics from the original RSC productions in 2013!) and sober up before the house opened and I found my (very expensive) seat for the show.

The show was stupendous overall and Antony Sher's Falstaff  was such a high point. His character was equal parts tragic and hilarious and completely over-the-top as every good Falstaff should be. A rogue and a charmer whose bravado and charisma are the only things keeping him from being thrown in jail or killed in the street. Plus, his famous 'honor' speech before the battle of Shrewsbury was the best I've ever seen it. I understood every line and his use of audience participation (when he asked the first few questions, he waited for someone to say "No") was perfect. I honestly cannot wait to see the second installment this coming Saturday.

I realized that I've only ever seen the Henries as a seriously cut down combined version when Seattle Shakes did it... I dunno, five or six years ago. It was still pretty long, 3.5 or 4 hours total, I believe, but they did both part 1 & part 2 in one night as one complete performance. So, there were lots of new bits that I'd never seen before, or that I'd forgotten, it has been a few years. But considering that this was only part 1 and it was a little over 3 hours long, and part 2 is about the same length? There's a LOT of material that Shakes must have cut to make the Henries into one night of theater. Yay! New to me!

Ugh. I love reading and I love being inspired to do what I love. This book is a two-fer!
I also began reading Sher's book about becoming Falstaff last weekend. It was delivered on Saturday, so I got to start my lazy Easter Sunday off right with this lovely gem. I am both trying to savor the book (I only read the first chapter on Sunday, and am now only reading it while I'm on the subway or on my lunch breaks), and also trying to finish it before I see the second half of the show on Saturday. It's an interesting challenge. I am already half-way through the book and I'm obsessed. I have a ridiculous amount of passages underlined and just as many notes scribbled in the margins. I know it is going to make part 2 even MORE enjoyable than part 1! So many glimpses behind the scenes! YEEEEES! I'm a fan of any book that makes me belly laughs on the subway (and even shed some tears).

What a Drag...

She's backlit. And it's amazing.
Saturday was just as busy as the rest of the week. I taught Stretch in the morning and then (after my traditional Saturday morning bagel & coffee, obvi), I booked it home to get some laundry done (no more clean undies or workout wear!) before meeting up with Molly and a couple of her friends from Arizona for a Bachelorette brunch at La Carbonara in the West Village. Um... it was a DRAG BRUNCH. Yes, that is correct, a lovely queen performed for us while we drank our bottomless mimosas spiked with vodka (yeah, yeah, I know, I'm not supposed to be drinking...), and ate our omelettes. It was awesome.

She loved our table and kept bringing us free shots, too! And because we enjoyed her so much, we followed her to her next gig at a drag bar down the street. So much fun! Day drinking! On a Saturday! With Molls!

This city never ceases to amaze me. There is, quite literally, something for everyone here!

A Little Bit of Everything

Newfie butt in the East Village! So cute. Reminds me of when I was taking care of Solomon.
Things have been crazy. I mean, I knew they would be and I said they would be, but it has been insanity. I looked back at my schedule, and this last Sunday (Easter) was the first day in two weeks that I didn't have anything on the books. Naturally, I did next to nothing, lounging around, reading my new book and watching Netflix. With a little bit of yoga thrown in for good measure (obvi). It was glorious.

Thursday night I was debating doing stand-by for Richard II, but after I such a late night out on Wednesday, heading home to crash just sounded too good to pass up. Especially since I had a 9am audition Friday morning. It was good choices. I am pretty sure I was in bed by 10 or so... Sleeeeeeeep.

Friday I ROCKED that audition, I mean, absolutely KILLED it. Like, surprised I haven't heard from them because I left expecting I'd need to start planning for my summer in Maine killed it. But, I haven't, so... assuming that's a no-go.

After the audition, I hit up a morning yoga class and then just sat in Starbucks memorizing lines until my extras call for the student film I agreed to do. In the future I'm gonna have to be pickier with my film choices. That, honestly, felt like a waste of my time, but just as each audition gets me face-time with casting directors, and helps me feel more prepared for the next one, each small film I work on helps me gain confidence and experience being on-camera. Trying to see the glass half-full here...

Plus, when I was sitting outside at the Starbucks (it was so muggy on Friday. It kept threatening to rain, but was also crazy WARM. And when it finally did rain, it was a torrential, almost tropical downpour. Over almost as soon as it started. It was great), a giant Newfie walked by with its owner! So cute and SO HUGE! Def the biggest dog I've ever seen in NY. I just wanted to hug and love it!!!!! Forever. I'm such a dog person.

On my walk to the subway from my class last night, I got to have golden retriever puppy time! She passed me and immediately walked toward me for pets and kisses and I just BEAMED. Thanking her owners over and over again! Golden retriever puppy pets! THE BEST!!!!!! My smile was plastered on my face the whole ride home!

Island Islands

The south facing view of last night's sunset.
I wandered a bit through the neighborhood after finishing my snack and beer, and I swear, wandering this city, especially during the spring, is pure joy. I was a little cold sitting at the picnic table drinking ice water and a cold beer, but once I started moving, the temperature was delightful. Plus, that area (pretty close to my current yoga studio, and where I was rehearsing before Martyr'd Signs lost its original space) has so much street art. I just love it! Every time I wander around the SoHo/NoHo/LES/Nolita area I find a new nook to explore, adding to my understanding of this city.

I love this sentiment. #givepeaceachance #dumptrump #outwithhate
I talk about learning Manhattan and Brooklyn like there are all these tiny islands in your mind separated by the subway system. Since we tend to travel underground in this city, the only way the islands (and therefore your mind map of the city) can grow and connect is by walking (I mean, I guess you could bike, drive or bus, but for me, it's walking). I love it when I can connect my islands and last night's adventure afforded me more of these island connections. This was a better metaphor when I first moved here. Now, I feel like many of my islands are completely connected and there are some entire neighborhoods, especially in Manhattan and Brooklyn, that are pretty much filled in. It's always fun exploring, though, finding the places that still need some shading.

The artist is quite literal. This is indeed gumshoeart.

Broken Promise

Book, beer, backyard... What more do you need on a temperate spring night?
I haven't been doing really well with the whole not drinking thing... I drank the weekend Dani was in town, two days last weekend and then had beers again last night, but I've been responsible with it, and I feel like I deserve it! I have been working like crazy this last month! I haven't even really seen my roommates for at least a few weeks. I mean, I hear them come home or leave or maybe pass them in the hall, but I don't think all three of us have been in the same apartment for three consecutive hours (where we weren't sleeping) in over two or three months. We're all so crazy busy lately!

Until last night, that is. Last night I went to see Gabi's solo show, and since Maridee directed, obviously she was there, too. Then we grabbed drinks and grilled cheese (at Cheese Grille! I had the sandwich with goat cheese--YUM!) and talked about the show and what's next and generally just caught up. So much has happened in both our lives, so it was nice to get some face-to-face time after the show yesterday. Even though my meager 4.5 hours of sleep is making work today a little bit...harder than it should be.

It was such a quick jaunt from Midtown to the LES/Chinatown/Nolita area, that I some time to kill. So, I found a German place with a beergarden and indulged myself with two hh beers, pretzels and mustard, and Kindle time before heading to Beast. It was good choices.

Worth Every Penny

In NY. Right now. And I have tickets for 3 (of the 4)!
While sitting at work going over emails and killing some time yesterday afternoon, I saw an email from BAM reminding me that the King and Country cycle (four of Shakespeare's histories--Richard II, Henry IV pt 1, Henry IV pt 2, and Henry V--performed in rep) is touring from the RSC starting this weekend. I click on the link to check it out and pretty immediately realize that one of my favorite actors, Antony Sher, is playing Falstaff in the Henry IV's (well, one of my favorites from a distance. I've never seen him perform live, but his book on becoming Richard III, Year of the King, is one of the best acting books I've ever read. I reread it anytime I need a little extra inspiration digging into a hard role, especially a Shakespearean character. AND he wrote one on becoming Falstaff--Year of the Fat Knight--that I just bought from Amazon). Anyway, back to ticket prices...Wheeeeeeew, yeah they were expensive. So, I hemmed and hawed, but eventually decided it was worth it, took the plunge and bought em!

I am still trying to get a ticket to see David Tennant in his sold out run as Richard II (apparently those have been sold out forever, but BAM encourages interested parties to do stand-by, lining up before the show to see if there are any returned tickets, AND they have a $30 TodayTix lottery, so when I'm available I will be heading that direction hoping to get lucky. Keep your fingers crossed for some lotto/ticket return luck!), especially because it is the only one of the four shows that I have never seen. As of now I am seeing Henry IV pt 1 this Saturday, Henry IV pt 2 next Saturday, and Henry V next Sunday. Yeah, I'm real excited! Shakespeare! Done by the masters! In my city! In my borough! Guys, this is happening!

And you KNOW I will be devouring Tony Sher's book the second it lands in my lap. Yeeeeees!

Just got the reminder email about Saturday night's show. Oh yeah, my upcoming ticket to BAM is in my purse. You better believe I am ready to go!

Skating By

What's this? Oh nothing. Just a professional ice skater working her routine on the public rink outside Rockefeller Center. No biggie...
Even though today was supposed to be all warm and 70s, the sun decided to hide, so I don't believe it hit those temps. Not saying it wasn't "eat lunch outside" weather, cause it was. It was just "wear your coat and scarf as you eat lunch outside" out there.

In venturing out to find a place to sit and eat I naturally went toward the channel right by the ice rink and happened to see this gorgeous ice skater doing her thing. Pretty cool. I didn't realize that it wasn't just free skate all the time on that rink. I mean, she had a costume and music and everything. People even applauded when she finished (I had sat down before then. I mean, I only have a half-hour to stuff my face and take a break, and eating a salad standing up is really difficult). So cool.

This city, man. This. City.

PS Can we all agree that the fact that I got to make two posts about skating in one day is just too perfect? I mean TWO SKATING PUNS in ONE DAY! It's just stuPUNdous!

Slope Style

Trucks unloading and setting up for either a late night or early morning shoot.
So, as I walked back to the subway from class last night, there were four HUGE trucks unloading supplies and setting up for the filming of something. I'm guessing they started early this morning (since they weren't there at 815pm when I got off the subway, and were clearly just starting to prep everything at 945pm when I was leaving). Jess said that it is probably for "Drew", the new CBS made-for-TV-movie update of Nancy Drew where she plays an NYPD officer.

I'm always so amazed at just how much equipment you need in order to film a TV show or movie. It's completely overwhelming. I'm also impressed with how quickly they got all this set up! Crazy! Especially considering what a loooooong night these crew members' probably have ahead of them.

Tonight, after work, I'm heading to the LES to kill a couple hours before catching a one-woman show my friend, Gabi, created that's directed by my roomie, Maridee. It's called Beasts and I saw a small snippet of it during our Nollaig Na mBan back in January. I kinda can't wait to see the rest of the show AND support my friends! So glad I have tonight off from anything and can jump down there with enough time for some foodz and a drinkle beforehand.

It also looks like I'm filling up my Friday. I was originally hoping I could get another temp job, but now I have an audition for a Shakespeare theater company up in Maine in the morning and a film shoot that afternoon! w00t! Getting it done!

The theatre company is casting for their summer season, which includes two shows, Richard III & All's Well that Ends Well, and a job as a theater educator. If I get the gig, I would be contracted to perform in both shows AND teach Shakespeare to kids. I'm pretty excited about the opportunity to audition for them, and hopefully, they'll like what they see. It would mean I'd be in Maine for two months in the summer (end of June to end of August), but it pays well and would be really cool to get some theater teaching experience, AND get to perform in TWO Shakes shows I've never even SEEN, much less worked on! Cross your fingers for me...

For the film shoot Friday afternoon I am just an extra in a church scene, so not anything to write (in a blog) home about (HAH!). But they're paying and feeding me (and giving me more options for my reel).

Guys, I feel like life is pretty damn good right now (don't worry, I'm knocking on my wooden desk as I write that)! I feel lucky to live in this amazing city where I am pretty much constantly auditioning, working, teaching, and rehearsing. Getting more experience with each opportunity. I am, honestly, happier than ever that I made this giant cross-country move 18 months ago(!!!!!), and when I compare where I am in my life now to where I was a year ago, I can see how much I have grown and changed, and (minus my bank account) all in the right direction! I mean, I knew 30 was gonna be my year, but you guys, I feel like I am SLAYING it.

Anyway. Proud New Yorker moment!

Roll with It

Loving her whole look! And those skates casually slung over her shoulder. Perfection!
I saw this on my walk back to my apartment from the subway after work yesterday and I had to surreptitiously snap this pic. I just loved everything about it, especially how she looks like she could have stepped right out of the 70s. Awesome.

I have to say that Daylight Savings + getting off work at 530pm = a much happier Gina. It's amazing how much of a difference that half-hour makes. Yes, it's tough getting to my mat a half-hour earlier (by 540am--UGH!), but that payoff at night is somehow totally worth it. Even on a day like today where my brain woke me up at 230am SURE that I'd slept through my alarm. No, it is NOT time to get up yet, brain, in fact, I've only been sleeping for four hours. In what world is that enough sleep for me? (None. The answer is none).

I mean, just yesterday I was looking through my old fashion blog noting just how tired I looked in almost every single picture. I mean, my eyes always crinkle when I smile, but back then, they were so small and puffy in every picture because my crazy Starbucks and rehearsal schedule was maybe getting me 4 hours of sleep a night... almost every night... for 3 years! I have no idea how my body lasted that long... I also kept noticing how damn TAN I was. God, I look so pasty right now... Come on, sun, I need some color! I need some warmth! I need SPRING! (Is this complaint getting a little repetitive? Annoying? Sorry(notsorry)! I love warm weather and I need my sunshine!)...

At yoga last night I was getting a little worried I was gonna have to cancel, but then Yasmine, my pregnant student, arrived and I got to do a little private pre-natal yoga class with her. She's due April 14th, so she is getting so close to the end of her pregnancy! In her last month! And she's still coming to class and rocking it out. I did have a moment yesterday where I saw her profile and thought, "Wow! She is REALLY pregnant!" I mean, even from last week, I  can see a difference. She's killing it on the mat, too. Modifying and resting when she needs to, and because yesterday was the full moon, we did Moon Salutations and a sequence all about feminine energy (the moon represents the feminine, the left side of the body). At the end of class she told me that she's having a girl, and that the name they chose for her actually translates to "moon" or "lunar"! I mean, how fun is that?!

Self-Promotion Fail

Outside the office where I worked last week. No biggie.
Before I headed to gallery night in Greenpoint last Friday, I called Dad to check in and go over more details of their May trip to NY. I was just pacing on the sidewalk outside the office bulding and I happened to look up because I liked the architecture of one of the buildings, and I suddenly how close I was to the Chrystler Building. So beautiful! I feel like all I had last week were, "Holy crap, I live here!" moments with the weather and the architecture and the sunsets and the views. I'm gonna go ahead and give it to springtime in NY. It's just so gd magical!

Yesterday I spent all day in Brooklyn, but very little time at home. I was at a bar in Williamsburg for the "Long Limousines" shoot from noon to 7pm (actually, I got there a little early because one of my favorite coffee shops is down the street and I wanted to make sure I was caffeinated before heading into only my second time on camera). They made me look so pretty, too! I came with a clean face and dirty hair and the hair girl curled my hair a bit (as she told me how much she loved my look, and that, when she saw my headshot as one of the girls they were considering, she told her producer fiance that they had to use me! YAY!), and then because I was rocking a 20's-meets-60's shift dress, they makeup girl did me up in a brown smokey eye with a dark pink lip. I, of course, forgot to take any selfies... I did contact the director asking for any stills he has from yesterday, just to see if he knows of any because a lot of the other girls were selfie-ing like crazy (another time where I was definitely one of, if not, THE oldest girl in the room. Pretty sure the guys are about my age, but the other chicks were definitely all early 20's).

They had about an hour left of shooting when I had to peace out (what a fun way to make $50!) to get to Park Slope for my class, but I think I am featured in a number of shots, and BONUS, was the only redhead and one of only two girls with short hair! Unique look FTW! The video is gonna be ridiculous and over the top. And you can bet that when I have the YouTube (or vimeo or whatever) link, I will be posting it on the blog for all of you to see. Cross your fingers that I don't make too many bizarro faces... Since most of the video is just us dancing around...

Class was fun yesterday. Three lovely ladies, and one new body to teach. I even got to the gym with enough time to wash all the makeup off my face, and sit in the sauna for ten minutes or so. Trust me, the shower took when I got home from class was well-deserved.

Today through Thursday I am back at Rockefeller Plaza answering phones and running reports. It's been quiet so far today, and should remain that way since Sunday is Easter and a lot of people took this whole week off. The only reason why I'm not working here on Friday, is because the whole office is closed. I like working here. The office environment is nice and there are only five people in the office. Plus, they have snacks. And they give me more to do than just sitting here taking up space, answering the phone when it rings. I always appreciate that.

Plus, it looks like I might have some more auditions on Friday, so I appreciate having the availability to go to them!

Treat Yo Self

My view as I walked over the bridge from LIC to Greenpoint on Friday evening. Um, yeah!
It didn't rain Friday evening, and I somehow managed to motivate myself to head to Greenpoint to do the Greenpoint Gallery Night. It was a lovely solo date! I toddled around Greenpoint for two hours, went to five of the "galleries" (not being judge-y, only using the quotes because one was a bar and one was a wine shop. Def not complaining), checked out the art, bought a cheap bottle of red (that I have yet to open), and treated myself to a very tasty IPA, before busing it home, and heading to bed. Such an exciting Friday night for me! No, but seriously, I've been so busy and knew I had a busy day the next day, so I pretty much crashed out around 1030pm or so. It was good.

Found walking around Greenpoint on Friday. Well done, vandals, well done.
I wasn't asked to come to callbacks for the upstate theatre company I auditioned for on Friday, so I taught Saturday morning Stretch Therapy, treated myself to a bagel and coffee, and booked it home to clean up a bit before teaching a private with Jess. Then, to celebrate her bday the day before, we got manis! Fun times!

After we split up, I headed to Midtown for my As You Like It audition, which went very well, and I spent the rest of Saturday vegging. I am almost caught up on House of Cards (which I told myself I had to finish before I could start Daredevil). And, once again, I passed out pretty early.

Saturday evening I received email invitation to the As You Like It callbacks Sunday afternoon, as well as a request that I cover a Sunday yoga class for a sick instructor. I agreed to both, so I (finally) got to sleep in a bit Sunday morning before heading to the 115pm Vinyasa class (that means I taught 4 classes at Slope last week, AND the private with Jess. Next Friday's paycheck it gonna be NICE!), then I tried to get from Park Slope to Midtown in 45 minutes (I managed to do it in 50, which is pretty damn impressive)! Although the callback went well, I only read once, so I don't think there's gonna be an offer... Oh well. Gotta keep putting myself out there!

The trains were running wonky all weekend, they're always worse on Sundays, and I had rehearsal at 6pm in LIC, so I figured I might as well head straight out to Queens, and see if I could find a sports bar near the rehearsal space to watch some March Madness basketball and kill two hours. It was great plan. I found this awesome bar that was playing the games (got to watch the end of the Notre Dame/SFA game. HOLY CRAP! So good!), and noshed on a great burger while talking to the Irish bartender. At some point during the time I was in the bar, it started snowing... so I had to walk through it get to rehearsal. Ugh. But I made it to the space, and we all rehearsed like crazy (I GET TO FIGHT! It's super short, but STILL! I get to play!).

Traveling between LIC (really Queens in general) and Brooklyn is such a bitch that it took me over an hour to get home (UGH), but since I was released early, I got back just after 10. Not too bad. In preparation for the music video shoot on Monday, I went ahead and packed my entire closet (including shoes and jewelry) making the heaviest bag imaginable... But options!

Spring Tease

Magnolias are blooming!
After such gorgeous weather last week, on Sunday, the first day of Spring, it snowed. And, according to TimeHop, the same thing happened last year. Oh, New York, you so crazy!

But! The magnolias are starting to bloom and, according to "cherry watch" (yes, that's a real thing), some of the cherry blossoms at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden have started to bloom, too. Jess and I are waiting until the majority of the trees are in "peak bloom" before heading to BBG, though. We will be patient! I've seen lots of Seattleites posting pics of the Quad's cherry trees out in full force, so it looks like the west coast spring is springing into action (HAH!) a bit ahead of us, lucky dogs!

Anyways, it's starting to warm up in the city (with the exception of Sunday, thank god), and tomorrow it's supposed to get back up to 70 degrees! Even though it drops back down on Thursday, I'll take what I can get. I am ready though for nice weather. No more snow, no more needing to layer like crazy, hats and gloves optional... I'm ready for spring to hit and STAY, y'all.

Gotta Get to Greenpoint

Might head here after work tonight. Wander through some art galleries!
Debating what I'm gonna do after work tonight... Thinking about maybe heading to an artwalk in Greenpoint, but it's SUCH a bitch to get back to Crown Heights from really anywhere in BK that I might not do it. Depends if I can get someone to tag along with me. Or whether or not it starts raining...

Daredevil just came out on Netflix today and heading home to veg out and watch that is also kinda calling my name... I guess we'll see how I feel at the end of the work day. I took lunch so early that I dunno if I'm gonna make it five. more. hours. Ugh.

Plus, March Madness is on right now... I can stream it here at work (and did yesterday) and when I went home I was able to get my ipad to do it, but my stupid computer is being an asshole and wouldn't play anything.

My start up disk is full. Which means I need to figure out a way to delete things from the computer, but the folder that's taking up all the space is the "other" folder containing all the hardware info... So annoying. Debating paying someone to take a look at it and get rid of some stuff. Right now I can't even get itunes or spotify to open and half the time my safari and chrome won't open either. So dumb!

Since my computer's memory is almost completely filled, it can't run smoothly, and I obviously need to delete things. So I got an external harddrive and have deleted everything extraneous (photos, some music, documents), but that stupid "other" folder is still full and I don't know what is I need to keep for the computer to function, and what is just taking up space. There are even free softwares you can download that go through all your info and let you know the safe folders to delete, but I don't have the disk space to download one of those! Grr. Argh!

Daylight Savings--Fine, I guess it's OK

I mean, how beautiful is this? Love the sunlight hitting the buildings down the block!
I think it's because it was raining when I left work on Wednesday that I failed to notice how light it was outside when I walked out of the underground, but the little bit of rain that hit yesterday afternoon had cleared up into this astounding sunset by the time I got home last night. It was perfect.

I know, I always complain about losing the sun in the morning, but getting it in the evening really is remarkable. I forget. And soon it'll be getting lighter on both ends as the days lengthen even more, so I'll just breathe and remember to be patient. And try to live life in the moment (OMMMMMMM...)

There and Back Again

Found during my walk to the audition. Spring is slowing blooming...
I made it! Left at 11:10am and got back at noon, giving me ten whole minutes to read, relax, and stuff my face (because, of course, this is the first job I've temped where they've expressly noted it is not OK to eat at the desk. Of. Fucking. Course.). But I did it! Actually, super proud of that, too.

The audition went OK. Definitely wish I would have had some time to warm up the top of my range. I sang "Gimme Gimme", which is such a great song for me...if I've warmed up. I float into my head voice three times and when it's there and warm and good, it's flawless. You can't even tell that I'm switching from chest to head and back again, but... This time it was not so smooth. Definitely a vocal change. Ugh. I hate that!

But the monologue went well, and they DID ask me if I was available tomorrow, so I'm taking that as a good sign. They're making callback calls tonight, so I guess I'll know soon whether I'm teaching Jess a private after my 830am Stretch Therapy class, or I'm glamming up and heading to a callback. Send me good vibes!

Balcony with a View

Looking south. Ugh, this city, amiright? All the hearts!
I promised a picture out on the balcony and yesterday, right as the rain rolled in, I snapped one. I told you guys it was good, but I don't think I quite realized HOW good until I walked out there to take the pictures. It's like I couldn't back up enough to get all of the buildings in the shot. The office is on the 21st floor, so you feel like you're standing face-to-face with these amazing, iconic skyscrapers. It's breathtaking. Last day in this paradise.

Oh hello, Empire State Building! I almost missed you there! (top: looking west, bottom: looking east)

Next week I head to an office where the reception desk is in the middle of the space without a windows in sight.. Oh, well. Gotta enjoy it while it lasts. I mean, it's not like I expect a corner office with a view, but a window, or a way to look through glass doors to see out of a window, those are the small perks that make these assignments better. Plus, with all the white in this office, even when it began to rain yesterday and it got a little dark, the light color of floors and walls reflected any natural light and still made it seem cheery.

I always forget how affected I am by the sun. Living in NY now I am spoiled because even on rainy days (like today, and yesterday, and Wednesday) there's still the possibility of seeing the sun (again: like today, and yesterday, and Wednesday). The Seattle grey was so disheartening that by February or March I only felt reinvigorated in the years I took a trip somewhere sunny (in different years, I did Austin, Panama, Mexico, and NY all during the month of March).

But it's not like that here. Even though last February and March were BRUTAL (the average temp Feb 2015 was 25 degrees), I still saw the sun on those cold, crisp days. And it takes some getting used to. Now, I know that sun does not equal warm, but there was definitely an adjustment period...

Tangent! Anyway, yay view! Yay sun!

Calming the Nerves

Reposted from a friends' instagram because HILARIOUS!
So, my audition is in about an hour. Well, I have to LEAVE for it in an hour. Taking a super early lunch and then, hopefully, getting back on time. It's one of those weird things where if the 7 comes on time it's faster for me to take the train, BUT it might just be easier for me to walk to the westside since I know exactly how long that takes, or ya know, how long google maps says it will take... Boo. It's exactly a mile away, so 20 minute walk or risk the subway? Oh, who am I kidding, I'll probably just walk.

I'm getting nervous, too. Monologue and singing for a theatre upstate (in Naples, NY about 5.5 hours away). They pay pretty well and provide transportation to and from Naples as well as a housing. Could be a fun way to get some experience and get paid. We'll see. I'd need to sublet my room for part of the summer if I got a show, so that could be interesting, too... Anyways, getting ahead of myself. Audition in an hour. Here we go!

Seriously This Good

The view of downtown Manhattan from the conference room.
I can't even. It's so spectacular. Tomorrow I think I'll go out onto their balcony (YES, I SAID BALCONY) and get a picture that's not obscured by the windows. Stupendous. This city, man. This. City.

Braving the Masses

Grand Central all decked out for St Paddy's Day. And you can see all the green clothing.
I went out at lunch today to try to find some sunshine and work my monologues for the auditions I have coming up tomorrow and Saturday. It's another nice Spring day. It's in the high 50's to low 60's right now, but it might begins to thunderstorm later on this afternoon. I do enjoy these NY springs.

In my quest for a sunny place to sit and eat, I found the parade. I mean, barely. I found 42nd and 5th where is WILL be crossing, but where, at that time, it was the only legal place get from the eastside to the westside. And boy howdy, were there people! Walking back I even passed a few Irish bars that seemed to have their fair share of patrons, not all of whom were completely sober. It wasn't even 1pm yet... New Yorkers (and tourists) St Patrick's Day pretty damn hard...

Luck of the Irish

Why yes, this IS a bathroom selfie, thanks for noticing!
Thank the gods I am not working at Stout today. No, really. Seriously. Thank them. Not only is it St Paddy's Day, but it is also the first day of March Madness. I cannot IMAGINE the fresh hell it would be working this horrible conflagration of hellish events in an Irish Sports Bar. In FiDi. OMG, no. I woke up this morning with this realization and am just so happy to be sitting in an office right now. Breathing a sigh of relief and sending love and support to all my server friends (and bar owners) on this day. May the tips be plentiful and the green beer stay in its glass.

That being said, Yay St Paddy's Day! Apparently the parade goes right by my office because Grand Central was already a shitshow before 9am this morning. Didn't see anyone drunk (yet), but lots of green clothes and people already lining up for the parade that I think starts around noon. I'm not sure exactly what the route is, but I know it goes by right around where I am...

I also am always amused as I get dressed for St Paddy's Day because even though green is my favorite color, I really don't own much green clothing. And what I do own falls into two categories: Harry Potter related (I AM a Slytherin after all) or Seahawks related (oh yeah, lime green, baby). Since I'm working in an office today, I went with the Slytherin tie (also wore my scarf) instead of any of my Hawks stuff. Also rocking green button earrings which you can't really see in the pic.

I did buy a kelly green Shamrock tank at Target when I was there over the weekend, but I decided this morning that it was too casual for this office environment. I'll still wear it for yoga though, so that's good at least.

Why You Gotta Be So Rude?

Wot. WHY does this book exist???? But hey, I'd put it in a free book pile if some well-meaning person gave it to me, too...
I don't have much more to add, other than saying that this might be the first year in recent memory that the beginning of daylight savings hasn't directly affected me. But then, today when I was walking out to do my morning practice before work, I was so startled not to have even the barest glint of a sunrise greeting me. Although, I love saluting the sun as it rises, I had gotten used to a little more sunshine than I saw this morning... This was, like, January amounts of sun... BOO. Oh well, I guess I'll just watch the days gradually grow longer all over again.

Also, not gonna lie, it was pretty nice leaving at 8pm to go teach my class last night and still seeing the last remnants of the sunset during my walk to the subway. The days are lengthening. Spring is coming! Slowly, but surely...

I also love that it was supposed to be gross and rainy outside today, and it's not. It's sunny and in the high 50's! w00t! I'll take it. Might start to rain tonight, but that's fine. No plans tonight, just heading home to veg out, make the foodz and go to bed early, so who cares if it rains? Another day temping tomorrow!

PS I just saw the subtitle in that stupid book "A Simple 15-Step Action Program". WHHHHHHHHHHHHY?!?!?!?!?

So Much Shade

The Queen throwing mad shade as she helps Jess open her heart in Savasana.
Sunday began with a call from Jess asking if our morning yoga was still on, just as I was texting her to ask her to shoot me a test text to see if my phone was doing it's weird not-receiving-texts thing again. It was. And we were still on despite losing an hour to daylight savings time since someone (ME) went to bed so gd early on Saturday night... (Phone has fixed itself, BTW)

We did a class together in the morning sun and then met up with her boy--from now on referred to as SSM (first time meeting him!!!!!!!)--for a really great brunch (his treat--major points for SSM). (Verdict: I like him. He is soft spoken, but def good people. Can tell he knows Jess and respects her. Approved.)

Then, I headed back to the Columbus Circle area to do my Funikijam training. Monday I actually got to do some teaching, too. We taught part of the classes trading off sections on Sunday, and then, on Monday, another "agent of jam" and myself joined the creator, Brian, in Queens for a day of teaching six 25-minute classes. During the first two we observed and helped out as Brian led the class, then we co-taught two, and we each taught a class solo to end the day. It actually worked out really well. Unfortunately, because of the (3 train and 90-minute) commute, I am not going to be able to teach at that location, but there are plenty of other classes, locations, and opportunities for me to complete my training and start teaching on my own. The full class is 45-minutes long, though, so I have a bit more material to learn before I feel comfortable going at it solo. The next step is to observe one of the teachers, and then maybe help out teaching a couple of the sections in their class, and then teach on my own.

The program is organized into themes, with different 3 week modules within each theme. This is week 2 in the 3-episode module Shenanigans: An Irish Celebration (because St Paddy's Day) and falls within Trip Around the World theme. Spring's theme is World Garden Party, so I'm gonna try to observe and get some time teaching next week (week 3) within the module I've already started to learn. Each class is set-up in the same general order, so it's just about learning the script for each theme and few changes within the module each week.

Yesterday after training at this temp job, I headed to an audition, that mom has already disapproved of, for Naked Tempest. Yup, it's what you think it is. An all-female nude version of the Tempest to be performed twice in Central Park in the middle of May. Mom's not happy, but the audition went super well. I mean, I have a lot of conflicts (Titus techs and runs at the end of April, which that might be a deal breaker), so we'll see.

I have two other (completely clothed) auditions coming up later this week: an audition for the summer season at a theater upstate and an audition for an outdoor performance of As You Like It. Don't worry, mama, in all likelihood I will spend my summer performing in a show wearing clothing.

Dump It to Krumpit

I hate Trump, but I'm so glad that I live in a world (and a city) where this exists. SO. GOOD.
After the show on Friday, a bunch of Seattle peeps all went out to grab drinks and catch up, and, because they had worked together on Oklahoma in Seattle four or five years ago, Kyle, the actor who played Harpo in Color Purple, came out with us. We briefly met at a cast party for Oklahoma, but I did not expect him to remember me, but he did. Small wins! We went to this hopping post-show Broadway hangout where lots of musical stars go when they finish their shows and we actually got to see some of them (Sarah Bareilles was there--Brandon got to meet her--since her show, Waitress, is in previews AND Daveed Diggs, who plays Lafayette & Jefferson in Hamilton, was also there). It was pretty cool (I said out loud while internally freaking out). Guys, I really heart this city!

Unfortunately, after seeing a 2.5 hour show, waiting around for Kyle, and finally picking a bar to go hangout in, by the time we landed at said bar it was already nearing 1230 or 1am. Needless to say, I got home late. Mostly because I always do the "I'll just take the subway" thing, when I KNOW I should just cab it! Dangit Gina! There are times when sleep is more important than saving $30!

My 730am alarm on Saturday morning was not a welcome sound. But I was good (on only three hours of sleep--UGH! Not being hungover helped...), and got up to go take Hannah's Stretch Therapy class so I could see what and how she teaches and try to tailor my class a little more that direction while I'm subbing for her the next three months. I then grabbed my usual celebratory coffee and bagel from the shop down the street, and headed home to prepare for my 1pm audition.

The audition went great! It was for the company that teaches kids dance and music classes and they loved me! I started training with them Sunday and Monday and, once my schedule free up again, will continue my training next week. I'm excited to work with kids and start teaching! And in my field! Yes! And a flexible schedule! Yes!

Although the weather was not as warm as it was earlier in the week, Saturday was sunny, so after my audition near Columbus Circle, I headed to Central Park, which is where I saw the Anti-Trump demonstration. They were shouting, "Dump! Trump! (He's a piece of shit)" and carrying the lil Trump poop emoji signs. It was hilarious. So, obvi, I took a picture. Central Park was nice, but the wind picked up, and my phone wasn't receiving texts, so I mistakenly assumed the friend I was supposed to meet was bailing on me... Yeah, I went home and was in bed by 930pm Saturday night...

Don't Look Back

Hello gorgeous!
I started my Thursday off with a yoga class (my fav teacher at my current studio, who teaches what she calls, Rocket Yoga. It kicks my ass. And is awesome.) and then headed to the first Martyr'd Signs rehearsal I've had in three weeks. It was fine. I am not in the first act very much at all, so I had lots of time to memorize my lines for the rest of the show. Turns out I get to be a very small part in one fight, so that's a thing.

Also, after my gorgeous view of One World Trade Center on Wednesday, as I was making my way from the subway to our new rehearsal space in Greenwich Village, what should I stumble upon, but that same sneaky skyscraper following me around the city! It was just too funny, so, of course, I took a picture.

Color Me Inspired

So good, so good, so good, so good!!!!!!! LOVE!
Friday I had two auditions. One in the morning for Oklahoma (no callback...), and one at noon for the music video I landed that films Monday. It's a video for a hip-hop group and the song is called "Long Limousines". Don't worry. As soon as I get the link for it, I'll post it here for you all to enjoy...

And then after all of that, I got to hangout with Dani! We met up at my place, so I could give her the grand tour and then headed to the LES for food and drinks before meeting up with the Lizards to see The Color Purple.

You guys, YOU GUYS! IT'S SOOOOO GOOD! Like, so good that I will be SHOCKED if it doesn't win the Best Musical Revival Tony in June. There was so much crying and "YAAAAS"-ing and standing o's in the middle of songs (all from me, although the rest of the audience also joined in). Jesus. They could SAAAAAAANG. Cynthia Erivo plays the lead, Celie, and she is just. HO. LY. CRAP. SO GOOD. This is her Broadway debut and you will definitely know her name. Her voice is incredible! She played the part in the workshop and her slow burn, the way she finds herself and her character, her arc is so clear. SO CLEAR. Jesus. The girl is incredible. Really the whole cast is. It's such a clean and crisp show. Nothing extraneous. And every aspect gets its chance to shine. There is a moment for every single cast member, one for the lights, the set, the costumes. Everything. Gah! So good! What all Broadway should be!

Sorry about my word vomit. It's just so inspiring to see such good theatre on a vaunted stage. Hopefully a show like this informs future Broadway shows and directors: theater does not have to be an all out spectacle (*cough* Wicked *cough*) to be amazing and blow an audience away.

Off Season But Not Off My Mind

Found this in a coffee shop bathroom the DAY we resigned Kearse. Loving it!
The Hawks may not be playing right now, but that doesn't mean that I'm not following the changes happening this off season. And one of the big ones is that we resigned Chop Chop Kearse! Yay! Hometown hero is returning to the Hawks! He fits so nicely into our scheme that I'm CRAZY happy to have him come back (plus, who's been more clutch in the big games than Jermaine?). I am a little bummed that he didn't get the payout I know he was looking for, but... What can you do?

We also resigned Big Tuba, which is HUGE! He snapped up that Peterson fumble in the playoff game against Minnesota; The turning point leading to the only touchdown of the game, our only lead, and, eventually, the win! Gotta love shoring up the D line!

We've picked up two OT's and a DT, as well. None of them were names I recognized, but I trust PC/JS to get the job done in the off season/draft.

Not everything has been sunshine and roses, though. We lost Bruce Irvin to the Raiders (to go along with Malcolm Smith--our SB XLVIII MVP that they picked up last off season... They're looking good over there. I say they make it deep into the playoffs by 2018), and Brandon Mebane is heading to the Chargers... so no more belly rolls... Hoping we can keep Okung, but I know that he is shopping around (with no agent, though, so that might work in our favor...).

Anyway... In case you were wondering, yes I AM still obsessed. Even in the off season.

Livin the Life

Current job. Working at a non-profit recruiting firm on the 21st floor. With a south-facing view. Yes, please!
I love it when I work somewhere with windows. Lots of windows. And ones near me. Temping means I am usually filling in for the receptionist and that can often mean hanging out in the middle of the building, near the entrance and the elevators. And far away from any natural light. So, when I work in an office like the one I'm at for the rest of the week, with windows, and an open floor plan, and white floors and walls, it feels like I actually get to see this beautiful city around me! YAAAAY!

The girl I'm covering for is a stage manager and costume designer who is currently "on vacation" working tech for a show she designed that's opening on Friday. Needless to say, we got along during training yesterday, and when I took off, she asked if she could add me on facebook (I said yes).

I feel like SO MUCH has happened since I last posted a week ago(!!!). Seriously, so much. I'm sure I'll go into more details in other posts, but the overview is: 3 auditions, rehearsal, (took) 3 yoga classes, (taught) 3 yoga classes, saw a Broadway show, hungout with a Broadway actor (WHO MIGHT HAVE HAMILTON CONNECTIONS!!!!), hungout with Dani and the Lizard Boy crew, drank beer and whiskey (whoops! But only one day!), brunched, started training for a program that teaching kids music and dance, scheduled 2 more auditions, got cast in a music video... I think that's it. For now...

So yeah! Things! And stuff! I feel like I've just been so crazy busy. Everyday is filled with work, or yoga, or rehearsal, or teaching, or auditioning, or seeing a show with little or no time to eat or sleep. The rest of this week and the start of next show no sign of stopping, so here I go!

West Side, Best Side

This view though! #mycityisprettierthanyourcity
So, I thought I was done posting for the day, and then I took my lunch. Like, are you KIDDING me right now? First of all, I was just looking for a bench in the sun where I could eat, so I crossed Westside Highway knowing there was a park over by the water. Lo and behold, not only were there tons of benches, but a gorgeous view! And a frenchie sitting next to me. Unfortunately, clouds started rolling in and the wind picked up, so my lack of coat only made it feasible for me to sit there for 10 minutes or so, but it was a really enjoyable 10 minutes.

Well, hello there!
And then, as I walked back over the Westside Highway on the pedestrian overpass, One World Trade Center was peeking out over the top of the stairs. Seriously? Come on! This city is so beautiful it's unfair. Bringing back the hashtag #mycityisprettierthanyourcity this spring for SURE. Nothing like springitme in NY. Seriously, this is my second one here and once it hits? Fuggedaboutit!

Guys, I really, really heart my city! And now that I'm working more and can kinda afford to live here again, I am loving it even more! My work-life balance is getting back in track. It was waaaaaaay too far towards work for the first seven months I lived here, and then waaaaaay too much toward (social) life there for a while, as well, and now it feels like it's starting to even itself out. Finding time for auditions and rehearsal and seeing shows and seeing friends, but also temping and teaching a bunch. This city is at it's most fun when you aren't working so much you only have time and energy to sleep and eat on your days off, nor are you loafing around all day either spending money like a sieve or not doing anything because you have no money to spend. This middle ground seems to be working for me...

And I just got confirmation I'm gonna be working a temp job next Tues through Fri, which will help with the balance, as well. It means that I'm working both St Paddy's Day AND the day after, so I guess there goes any temptation to jump out of my "not drinking" boat... I mean, that's a good thing, right? Responsibility. Working instead of wearing green and drinking green beer. At least I won't be working in an Irish bar this year... Small favors.

Accidentally On Purpose

Look what I found! Tourist for a moment, just so I could get the pic!
So, I've worked downtown (on and off) for nearly 18 months now and, despite my dad really wanting to see it when he was here last year, I've never seen the Wall Street Bull before today. Since I was coming to FiDi from the LES, I took the J and got a little turned around getting out of the underground, so in re-calibrating and getting back to Rector Street, I managed to wander past the infamous Bull. Totally accidental, but I like it. Exploring NY, even neighborhoods I know pretty well, and finding new attractions is one of the coolest things about this giant, overwhelming city. Gotta love it. And don't worry, dad, when you come in May, I can find it again for you...

And, because I like to over-schedule myself, this was probably the last opportunity I'll have for a little downtime until Sunday. I thought I'd have a pretty relaxing yoga class-filled morning tomorrow, but it looks like I'm headed into a 10am audition instead... Not complaining, just adjusting. It's for a company that hosts dance and music events for kids throughout NY and it pays pretty well. The music classes/events happen 6-days a week, so I don't know how many I'd need to participate in, but it might be a nice way to work in a more theatre-y field and still fit with my daytime rehearsals, and yoga classes. Hoping that the yoga teacher part of my resume will help prove to them that I can teach and lead without having specific experience teaching kids.

Right after the audition I'm gonna head to rehearsal, the first one (for me) since the whole losing the space, and falling out with the old company fiasco, so we'll see how that goes. Oh, also since we recast the girl playing Lavinia... I don't even know who took over for her or how it the cast shifted to fill in for a missing member. I guess we're a cast of 12 now. We also have to be off-book for the first half of the show tomorrow, which is no problem for me, since I have a grand total of 7 lines before intermission. The second half is where I talk. Not a lot, but more. I'm IN a lot of scenes, but I don't necessarily speak in them. And I don't get to fight. But I get a cool monologue (trying to convince myself it's still cool...)

Friday I have my Oklahoma audition in midtown at 1030 in the morning and then an audition for a short film at noon in BK, possibly heading back to midtown from 3-5 to do a dance callback if they wanna see me try to dance... Otherwise, Friday is Dani time! And well-earned Dani-time, at that! YES! We might try to see a show or something or else just hangout and catch up. It's been too long...

Saturday I'm taking that Stretch Therapy class and then maybe going to an audition or just enjoying spring outside with a friend. We'll see if the auditors get back to me...

And no plans on Sunday. Glorious no plan Sunday! It will be filled with HoC and food and some yoga and relaxing. Looking forward to that right about now...
