On My "Days Off"

I heart these people (and Layne and Reana who couldn't be there, too)!
So... Since I've been temping non-stop at this job in FiDi while they look for a replacement receptionist (not very hard, mind you. They keep trying to get me to take the job and I am like, "no thank you. I did that when I first moved to this city. I would like the flexibility to audition and rehearse (and potentially travel outta town with a show) without feeling like I am going to upset the balance at my job." The end. They understand, but they all like me so they want me to stay. Always flattering, but getting a tad bit annoying now. Like, find a new front desk person, already! I'm missing EPA auditions for this right now!), I am getting used to the whole working 9 hours a day 5 days a week thing, but god I hate it. Because, especially with my teaching schedule, it means I don't really get very much time off. Plus, it's the summer, so I always fill up my weekend days in the summertime. Too much stuff to do!

We did the reading on Friday night at Jimmy's #43 and it went SO WELL! I mean, the comments are ridiculous and offensive and insane (and some of them were very supportive), but it was pretty great to get to reclaim our performance by reading them outloud for an audience. And there was an impressive amount of people who came to see it, too! We started a little late, but that was because we were waiting on people, and as we were reading, more people from the bar kept wandering in to see what was going on because of all the laughter. Yay! Good response!

Chalk street art near the reading. Found as I was wandering around killing time between work and our call.
After the reading, Jimmy himself even sent us free fries to show how supportive he was of our project and the reading. w00t! We're trying to film part of the reading sometime between 6/17 and 6/26, and, of course, my schedule is INSANE during that time, but since we are filming it mean tweet style, we don't all have to be there at the same time... So... I dunno. We'll see how this works out! The point is: it went really well! And was really fun! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing those ladies again. We are ridiculous people and at this point, pretty much like family.

Crossing my fingers this Minneapolis thing works out. Alice and Pitr said they were about 51% certain it could happen, so here's hoping that percentage goes up! And I get recast! And I can tour/revive a show I feel very strongly about! Yes and please and thank you very much.
