Eternal Celebration

Falstaff as King Henry IV in the play-within-the-play.
So, after I figured out I wouldn't be able to actually do the show that I was called back for on Friday night, I went ahead and cancelled that callback and immediately bought my ticket for BAM's screening of the digitally remastered Orson Welles' masterpiece, Falstaff: Chimes at Midnight. It combines parts of Shakespeare's Henrys (IV pt 1, IV pt 2, and V) to tell the story from Falstaff's pov. I'd never seen it. And, besides getting a little slow toward the end, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was. It was also cool to see it after having seen the whole King & Country series a couple months ago. I knew the story as a whole, and could see what parts of the Henrys Welles was picking and choosing (combining the battles of Shrewsbury and prepping the troops to deal with the insurrection in the north, for instance. I mean, it was clearly the battle of Shrewsbury, but the Falstaff, Shallow, Silence stuff was all from the second Henry IV and the Shrewsbury is the conclusion of the first, so... mixing and matching. And I liked it. Creatively telling this story).

I went to BAM immediately after work, treated myself to a popcorn dinner, and watched an "art-y" movie. Very Gina. Very birthday-y. Very fun!

DINNER!
Saturday after teaching I hurried home to get all my laundry done (OMG, SO. MUCH. LAUNDRY.), and then prepped for and headed to 2 different auditions (both went as well as could be expected), so we'll see. Hopefully, I'll hear something today. And have a fun post-Seattle/pre-Minneapolis show to do! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Then, since Saturday was so gorgeous, Maridee and I met up at Franklin Park after her rehearsal and grabbed foodz and drinkles. It was super humid, because it kept threatening to rain. And it was supposed to rain, but we still sat outside, and when it eventually DID start raining (for about 2 minutes, and we only felt a few drops because we were under a tree canopy) everyone else started freaking out and trying to pay their bills and get a table inside, and when the waiter came out to check on the two of us, we were just sitting there, totally fine getting a little wet, and he looked so confused that Maridee said, "We're from Seattle. We're fine with rain." and we all cracked up.
