| They're starting to bloom. Starting. Finally. And the trees in my neighborhood are leafing out. Sorta. Ready for real spring now, please! |
But, I got my ass outta bed, yoga'd and then did an upper body workout before showering and getting ready to head here to work.
My train was absolutely packed at the first stop, so I mentally ran Act V lines while standing there. And, besides a few word issues, I got it! I have one more speech in the act to memorize on my lunch break today, the epilogue, and then I can start on Acts II-IV! In Acts II and III Prospero mostly just lurks invisibly in the background, so I think there might be two pages total to memorize. And Act IV is the wedding, so there are some speeches at Ferdinand and the famous, "Our revels now are ended..." speech, but other than that, I'd say I already have the majority of my lines at least partially in my brain. Lots more to do, but knowing that I have the Act I exposition story and the soliloquy mostly up there (somewhere, rattling around), lets me breathe a little bit deeper.
I still have plenty of subway rides, and days at a desk to nail these speeches down, but I know that we're performing in 3 weeks, and the earlier I stop concentrating only on what words come next and can start embodying the words as a whole, the better. I'll get there. Eventually.
Last night, after work, I had plenty of time to do the PLYO workout and food prep for today before I had to leave to teach my class. And the class was great. It was three regulars, who I made really work. A little harder than intended. I realized that this 21 Day Fix Extreme program has increased my endurance so much that I can no longer rely on when I feel tired (from talking and demo-ing and walking around and adjusting) to let my class take a child's pose break because I felt great! Then one of my students just collapsed into child's pose from downward dog between two sides in a sequence, so I went ahead and had all of them drop down, come back to their breath, and take a little break before we moved onto the other leg. Whoops! But good to know!
Michael (the owner of the gym) also came by to film a little bit of the class. He's been wanting 30 - 60 seconds of each class, but since my phone is my music source, I haven't been able to get it to him, so now there's video floating around of me teaching! Somewhere. Eventually there will be pictures and video of me teaching. And maybe, even pictures of me in poses! Whaaaaaaaaat?! It's like I do this for a living or something. Michael also mentioned once again about getting me on the schedule for a third class. He said that I'm in demand! And that members are always asking when I'm gonna sub classes! Yaaaaay! So good to hear. I feel like I'm a solid teacher now. All the classes I take, my home practice, even the 21DFX I'm doing helps make me a better yogi.
Yay! Becoming a better me (definitely corny, but also true).
